If you have time, talent, and a desire to make a difference in our community we could use your help. Together, through our three programs, we can empower older adults to lead a healthier lifestyle and remain independent. Please review this list of volunteer opportunities, then give us a call at 831-375-4454 for additional information on becoming a volunteer.

Meal Server/Kitchen Helper
Spend a fun and friendly morning or lunch hour at the Sally Griffin Center. Prepare home-delivered meals and "dining -out"group meals. Serve and/or clean up at the Center noon lunch. Meet new friends.
Time Time: 7:30 am to 1:00 pm. Volunteers may sign up as frequently or infrequently as they would like. (Kitchen helpers are needed early in the morning.)
Qualifications Qualifications: A friendly nature, a desire to help, and a lot of energy


Volunteers come in all ages!
Lunchtime Performer
Musicians, dancers, and performers are needed to entertain seniors during the lunch hour at the Griffin Center. Perform on a one-time or ongoing basis, for anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour at a time. Even a short performance can make a big difference. (We like to special things around holidays)
Time Time: Between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. This could be a one-time show or an ongoing commitment.
Qualifications Qualifications: Performance skills and a desire to interact.

Volunteer Driver
Deliver nutritious meals to homebound Monterey Peninsula seniors. There are 26 different routes in Marina, Seaside, Monterey, Del Rey Oaks, Sand City, Pacific Grove, Carmel (to the Highlands), Carmel Valley Serve a roster of ongoing clients - be a friend and a window to the outside world.
Time Time: 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. Volunteers may sign up for one day a week or twice a month - or be an on-call substitute.
Qualifications Qualifications: Timeliness, the ability to carry containers for hot and cold foods, and a desire to make people smile!

Fitness/wellness/enrichment seminar/workshop/class presenters
The Griffin Center Active Living programs offer classes which promote health and wellness and welcomes anyone with a skill or talent to do classes or workshops.
Time Time: Time is flexible and can be scheduled
Qualifications Qualifications: Skills to share and a willingness to help improve the lives of older adults

Office Volunteer
Provide invaluable assistance by helping Meals on Wheels with mailings, filing, word processing, answering phones, desktop publishing, special event coordination, and more.
Time Time: Flexible, but generally during our office hours (9:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday-Friday)
Qualifications Qualifications: Responsibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a group.

Griffin Center Volunteer
Help coordinate Center events, decorate for special days, individual and business membership recruitment, Griffin Center Ambassador, host/hostess and more.

Special Event Volunteer: Help at Meals On Wheels annual fundraising events. The Culinary Classique d'Elegance and the Spring Affair (varies).We need help with everything from pre-event mailings, data entry, event development to gala-day support.
Qualifications Time and Qualifications: Variable according to each volunteer's role.
